Had I had some education back then (I was 12, give me a break), I would have known that the name of the movie was a nod to Sir Walter Raleigh's book, "History Of The World"... good Sir Walter only managed to write the first volume while being held prisoner in the Tower of London, and he was beheaded before writing the second one.

Of course, no Part II of Mel Brook's movie ever existed, but back then, nobody could tell me that. Music this week is a departure from our usual "year of the strip song"; because I've chosen to share one of the musical numbers from the film (which I must heartily recommend), Mel Brooks as Torquemada in "The Inquisition".

Oh, by the way... this is our 50th strip, thank you all for being here for our first year (we turned a year old about 20 days ago), we love doing the strip, and it will go on during 2013... but in January, we'll have guest pin-ups as we take some time to work on other projects. Happy New Year!

My personal thought is after the success of "The Producers" on Broadway, Mel should really do History of the World Part II as an Icecapades Spectacular, just for the fun of having Hitler on Ice.
